Some supported SVG features include basic shapes, paths, text, markers, clones, alpha blending, transforms, gradients, and grouping. In addition, Inkscape supports Creative Commons meta-data, node-editing, layers, complex path operations, text-on-path, and SVG XML editing. It also imports several formats like EPS, Postscript, JPEG, PNG, BMP, and TIFF and exports PNG as well as multiple vector-based formats.
Inkscape's main motivation is to provide the Open Source community with a fully W3C compliant XML, SVG, and CSS2 drawing tool. Additional planned work includes conversion of the codebase from C/Gtk to C++/Gtkmm, emphasizing a lightweight core with powerful features added through an extension mechanism, and the establishment of a friendly, open, community-oriented development process.

Fast jeder Photoshop Aktive hat sich schon an der Erstellung eines Aqua-Effekts versucht. Wie schnell und realistisch eine Kugel mit dem Aqua-Effekt erstellt wird, zeigt das Tutorial Create a Macintosh Aqua Sphere using Photoshop - Tutorial von Axialis, dem Hersteller des bekannten IconWorkshop.
Allerdings würde ich Benutzern von Photoshop CS zur Nutzung des Ellipse-Werkzeugs anstelle der Verwendung des Auswahlellipse-Werzeugs für die Kugel raten.

Automator ist ein umfangreicher und überaus vielversprechender Teil des aktuellen Mac OS X Tiger. Mittels vorgegebenen Aktionen ist es dem Benutzer möglich, eigene Arbeitsabläufe zu speichern. Dies bietet sich an, wenn man Aufgaben immer und immer wieder vornimmt. Eine möglicher Ablauf ist z.B. das automatische Verkleinern und Schärfen eines Fotos mit anschliessendem Upload auf einen Webserver. Aktionen für Automator müssen programmiert werden und wie immer gibt es unglaublich fleissige und talentierte Menschen, die ihre Kreationen auch noch ganz kostenlos ins Netz stellen.
